Mount Gambier’s Paul and Coby Morgan are renowned for their quick and tasty baked potatoes - in fact, there’d be few in the region who haven’t tasted one! The couple first purchased an old ice-cream van many years ago, and were soon offered one of the ‘Spud Trains’ to rent. more trains, which meant more time the family spent preparing the trains and travelling around the districts to assist other operators with their business. After all the hard work and effort, the lease owners took the trains from the couple leaving them to build their own. In hindsight this has been a blessing in disguise as the new truck ‘SPUDWAY’ you now see today is bigger, better, brighter and more hygienic than before! Paul and Coby built the bus for one main reason - to sell the best spuds in Australia! But to do this they needed to have a clean and easy place to do it. See for yourself, they now have a stainless steel fit out, hands free washing, huge fridge and bain-marie. All employees at ‘SPUDWAY’ are fully accredited, with Paul holding numerous food safety certificates, and Coby the mother of five knowing only to well the importance of hygienie. |
The bus was locally built using local tradesman from the area. All products sold are from local suppliers making them “locals serving locals”!
Paul and Coby are determined to make the best spuds in the district, and also offer a larger menu including a bigger spud menu, yiros’ and for the first time in Mount Gambier a larger take- away dessert menu comprising of strawberries and cream, doughnuts, cheesecake, chocolate mud cakes and much more! The size of the new bus allows them to serve the public twice as quick, cutting waiting times in half. The new site between the Indian and Chinese restaurants provides a more sheltered area from the elements, and “YES” lots more parking!
Due to the high demand Paul and Coby will now be open 7 nights a week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday til 8pm, and Thursday, Friday and Saturday til 10pm. They are more than happy to listen to any requests customers may have, or ideas, which they can use to make SPUDWAY your one stop shop!
